UBTECH Robots Make STEM Learning Fun in the Classroom

Three California Schools Incorporate Robot Kits Designed to Teach Engineering and Coding Through Robotics into STEM Curriculum

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – November 22, 2016 – UBTECH Robotics, the company that created the cutting-edge Alpha Series of humanoid robots, today announced three California schools have integrated UBTECH robots into their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum. UBTECH’s STEM-friendly robot kits teach engineering and coding through robotics bridging the gap between learning and pure fun. Students build their robots by hand and learn the basics of coding to control their robots’ movements. The goal of the program is to boost STEM enthusiasm in the classroom and equip students with 21st century work skills.

“Instilling a positive STEM experience at a young age can play a pivotal role in a student’s academic career,” said John Rhee, General Manager, North America, UBTECH. “We’re dedicated to helping develop the next generation of robot developers, programmers and coders and look forward to teaming up with schools across the country to present a dynamic and engaging program to put students on a path to future success.”

The participating schools are Hermosa Valley, Saint Frances Cabrini and Palisades Elementary. The three magnet schools introduced UBTECH robots into their STEM curriculum in November and will continue throughout the school year. UBTECH filmed each school’s participation. UBTECH is a long-time advocate for STEM in schools. Its Jimu Robot line, which lets kids build, program and share their robot creations, was built from the ground up to specifically meet the needs of STEM curriculum. The company is now furthering its message by introducing robotics to elementary schools as core to building up a well-rounded STEM syllabus. In addition to developing a student’s skill set in robotics, building, programming, and coding, UBTECH also aims to instill essential 21st century work skills including collaboration, problem solving, planning, and project management.
